Salafis are Muslims who follow the companions of Prophet Muhammud (pbuh). In this USA Today article an AP writer frames the expansion of this pure form of Islam as the negative result of a massive propaganda campaign put on throughout the Arab world. He pins this on so called satellite preachers, and funding from the government of Saudi Arabia. He says this movement  may  blot out the so called "more tolerant" or "liberal"  Islam.
